Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo was an awesome day! I spent it with my best friend Isabel by going to Ikea (random… I know!) as she was getting some furniture for her house. Ikea is always a treat, I love looking at all of their styles and room layouts and wished apartments were made with their designs. Maybe Ikea needs to get into the apartment complex business? Just saying….

After a “quick” visit, and loading Isabel’s car with all her heavy boxes, we decided to go get some lunch at this place around the corner called “Dos Gringos.” We figured it was Cinco de Mayo, may as well go get some Mexican food! It amazes me how Americans will celebrate this holiday, especially since it’s practically does not exist in Mexico. Sure, we won a battle, but we don’t party about it like Americans do! Anyway – we had some shots (it was part of entering) and I had some beer. Their tacos were really good, and it was all quite reasonable. Also they had the most amazing Mexican band there.

Uh.. never mind. Don’t get me wrong, the music was good, I just don’t understand how they tie into the Fiesta theme. It just doesn’t make sense!!

Back home, I got into my car and found a tire to be flat. This was very upsetting especially since on our drive down to Ikea I was talking to Isabel how scared I am to lose a tire while driving – and I come back to a flat! Her neighbor happily helped me change it (and taught me how to do it in the future) and we found a nail right in the tire.

So off Isabel and I go to Sam’s Club to get it repaired, which fortunately they did and did not cost me. Woot woot! While we were there however, we were shopping and playing around with their Blood Pressure machine (I shouldn’t say playing.. we were “testing”) and I weighed myself – It measured me at 220lbs! This means I have lost 20 lbs since I started my weight loss journey!

I confirmed this at home with my scale, and needless to say I am very happy! I’m halfway to my goal of being under 200lbs by the end of the year. I can do it!

Oh, and what did I buy at Ikea? “Water” glasses of course. These are going to be for my beer – I mean water! :)
